Strategic Business Services (\ "
) manages or oversights the management of BNZ\ 's non-performing and categorized assets. Categorised assets include all lending exposures displaying signs of distress which may or may not result in financial loss to the Bank. SBS operates independently of 1st line relationship managers and 2nd line business credit approvers.
SBS carries lending authorities enabling it to work objectively to provide relationship managers with specific transaction advice and as required customers with intensive specialist attention. Its objective is to optimize the customer outcome on categorized assets primarily through rehabilitation and repatriation to the originating business unit;
refinance by, or sale to, a source outside of the Bank;
or enforcement of security.
About the Role
Director Strategic Business Services, reporting to the GM Credit &
Strategic Business Services, provides specific and targeted 2nd line credit support to large files requiring the support of the SBS function. This function holds the highest categorised DCA in BNZ.
The function delegates and oversights the categorized DCA for the regional SBS managers and oversees the use of categorised DCA in other support areas (BNZ Financial Assist/collections). The role also encompasses reporting to ensure problem assets anywhere within BNZ are identified and appropriately managed.
As guided by the GM, the Director SBS will support the transformation, modernization and future readiness of the SBS function at BNZ including responsibility for the provision of reporting of distressed accounts to management and management of certain large, complex or high-profile cases.
The role also provides wider support to SBS through resource planning, the provision of mentoring to senior bankers across BNZ and is critical to ensuring SBS policies are fit for purpose and effectively understood and implemented across SBS and BNZ.
You will have previous lending and relationship management experience, ideally with exposure to the banks external customers. Previous restructure and or insolvency experience is desirable but not essential if you have strong lending knowledge within the banking industry.
This role would suit someone who is able to remain composed when having challenging conversations with clients and colleagues while displaying empathy for their position. People who do well in this role, while being professional, tend to have a high level of resilience and maintain a good work life balance.
