The Ministry of Social Development promotes social development for all New Zealanders. This newly established Group General Manager position will be the Ministry of Social Development\ 's chief advisor on matters relating to procurement and contract management with responsibility for the commercially focussed procurement, property, financial administrative services and contract management. The position is responsible for over $400m of expenditure, 120 staff and a property portfolio of around 150 sites with over 200 leases and also manages the Ministry\ 's centralised accounting centre with responsibilities for purchasing, paying accounts, receivables and vehicle fleet and facilities management.
A key focus of this position is to bring a higher level of maturity across the portfolio, optimising the contracts and agreements with external vendors to ensure that MSD is getting the best return on its investment of public funds. The successful applicant will be tasked with developing the long-term strategic plan for all commercial services within MSD, with the ultimate goal of increasing the commercial capability for the organisation. The Group General Manager will epitomise a continuous learning mindset, collaboration and responsive agile leadership. They will synergise various improvement methods such as systems thinking, process improvement, agile and service design, to achieve better outcomes for our clients, employees and partners.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive People and Capability, you will have the chance to play a key part in driving the group strategy and contributing to collective decision-making for the entire organisation.
As an established senior leader in the commercial space, you will have led the development of policies and strategies pertaining to procurement, contract and property management. You will be a champion of best practice, aligning your initiatives in accordance to Government guidelines.
You will have experience leading a team of skilled managers, be able to quickly establish credibility across these different specialist areas, bring cohesion to the commercial group and driving them towards a united goal.
