The Workplace and Technology Services Group is accountable for leading, influencing and ensuring that our corporate and transport technologies deliver to business and customer outcomes. The Group is accountable for all cyber and physical security issues, ensuring that the Transport Agency meets its ongoing security and compliance obligations.
Data and Information are significant assets for the Agency;
needed to support informed business decision making, transport planning, policy development, and investment analysis. Like all assets they need to be maintained and managed to ensure all teams have the data and information they need. This requires ongoing advice as to how best to evolve our practices, but also ongoing positive business engagement across all Groups. We are therefore in the process of growing the Transport Agency\ 's Business Intelligence (BI)capability with new and interesting projects coming on line.

I work programme. We arefocussed on exploring new and innovative ways in which to deliver excellent BI that can connect to the customer experience and make a tangible difference.
The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
The purpose of the role is to provides critical technical thinking, together with advice that helps Waka Kotahi build and support its business intelligence capability. The role supports the Manager Business Intelligence Direction in identifying the capabilities (people, process, tools, etc.) required to ensure Waka Kotahi\ 's data and information needsare met.
As Principal Advisor, you will provide advice on BI practices, policy and strategy. You will also engage with business stakeholders within the Transport Agency to explore some of their ?big questions? to:
understand its data and analytics needs (both existing and emerging);
and understand the priorities for improved insights and new data initiatives.
This is a great role to utilise your technical experience and grow your strategic thinking and leadership skills. Your strong understanding of what it takes to usefully grow data management maturity in a complex environment, along with strong technical knowledge will help you succeed as you help drive best practice and innovative thinking around how to deliver BI services.
We are looking for a proactive and confident business intelligence / data management specialist who is results driven, supports great collaboration and leads by example.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Strong demonstrated experience across a broad range of BI tools and packages
Demonstrable experience in informing BI solutions that meet customer need
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate technical terms into plain language
Proven experience in providing strategic advice and critical thinking at a senior level within a BI environment
Ability to manage multiple and complex projects
The ability to work with technical people on projects
Exceptional stakeholder management skills
