A large government agency requires a Principal Advisor to join the business group which works across the business providing strategic governance, accountability and transparency, communications, stakeholder, planning and monitoring expertise to ensure the business\ 's work is robust, properly considered and well represented to its stakeholders.
About the role:
The Principal Advisor, is responsible for supporting and advising a portfolio of senior leaders and business groups, working in close collaboration with other teams in the business unit.
The Principal Advisor contributes to good Investment Management practices, including business planning and investment management processes including prioritisation, quality management and the building of departmental project, programme and portfolio management capability.
Key responsibilities:
Provide account management type support and technical advice to a portfolio of Senior Leaders and Business Groups
Work with Senior Responsible Owners, Business Owners, Project/Programme Practitioners and other key stakeholders to utilise the Ministry?s Delivery Framework, ensuring a common approach is adopted and tailored where necessary
Provide decision and governance support, advising on the use of appropriate methodologies and tools
Provide advice on quality criteria, reviewers and sign-off authority to ensure consistency
Ensure good change management practices are being undertaken to support project/programme success
Assess and evaluate business cases, mandates and change requests and the impact of change requests for their potential effect on benefits realisation.
Act as an intellectual and thought leader to staff across the business to build capability and drive continuous improvements in investment management
Undertake mentoring or coaching of staff
Undertake induction training (including methodologies, process and tools)
Support project/programme start-up and closure activities through facilitated workshops when required.
Business improvement and relationship management
Build quality and effective relationships with stakeholders to enable prompt identification and resolution of problems.
Key requirements:
Senior-level experience with P3M frameworks and processes, and investment management good practices.
Account Management capabilities including experience developing and maintaining robust relationships with all parts of the business including senior managers, and programmes and projects. Desired
Prince2 Practitioner, MSP Practitioner or ILM Facilitator and has a working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Experience in developing and implementing P3 or investment management frameworks and delivering and preparingreports and proposalsfor a wide range of audiences.
Ability to rise above strategic challenge, overview and scrutiny and ensuring alignment with wider policy and strategic initiatives.
Strong writing skills and experience in preparing reports and proposals for a wide range of audiences.
Experience in facilitation of workshops and groups to achieve a useful and practical outcome. Knowledge and skills
Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal customers and provide technical leadership and influence across functional areas.
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain networks of internal and external contacts to enhance organisational performance.
