The Group is accountable for all cyber and physical security issues, ensuring that the Transport Agency meets its ongoing security and compliance obligations.
The Business Intelligence Services team build business intelligence and reporting solutions to provide data and insights to operational and management teams. Our solutions help the organisation operate more efficiently and provide evidence for key decisions that affect New Zealanders every day.

The purpose of the Principal Business Analyst role is to lead a team of data focused Business Analysts;
carry out business analysis work ? including requirements gathering and data analysis ? and maintain standardised business processes for the BA team.
This role is a mixture of people leadership and hands on delivery. You and your team of three to five BAs are focused on gathering business requirements from users and designing data solutions to meet those needs.
As a leader you will mentor and develop a small team of likeminded, data-focused, business analysts and develop processes and documentation for the team to use.
As a hands on business analyst with data capability you will bring two complementary skills. The first is being able to talk to the business to understand their data driven needs. The second is enough SQL capability to dig into the available datasets to understand what data is available and how the technical team need to piece it together to deliver the business\ 's reporting needs.
You will be able to showcase your analytical skills by providing fit-for-purpose Business Analysis services to projects and initiatives, tailoring what you deliver and how you deliver it to business needs. You will ensure relevant stakeholders are identified and consulted about their needs and appropriate solutions are identified and assessed. Your strong communication skills will enable you to work productively with non-technical business people and to write high quality report specifications that communicate their needs clearly to technical personnel. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Experience in developing, leading and mentoring Business Analysis team, or demonstrate a readiness to do so
Experience in updating and maintaining standardised business analysis processes and artefacts
Significant and proven experience in business analysis with advanced analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate and resolve highly complex issues, translating complex ideas into audience appropriate language
Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Sufficient SQL skills to navigate large and sometimes complex data sets
Business process design and improvement - modelling and/or simulating business processes in tools to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
Knowledge of and experience with Agile delivery methods
Strong relationship management skills, with an ability to build trust
At least five years\ ' experience within business intelligence environment is preferred
