About the role:
We are seeking Registered Mental Health Nurses for our forensic inpatient services at Te Korowai Whariki part of the Mental Health Addictions&
Intellectual DisabilityService (MHAIDS). Present vacancies are for Rangipapa (mixed gender unit).
The main function of Purehurehu and Rangipapa is to provide a safe and secure environment for people who have been admitted into hospital for assessment and/or treatment through the criminal justice system. Clients are either referred from the courts as part of the judicial process, or they are admitted from prison for psychiatric care and treatment.

The units have dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists and Coordinators to support their nursing staff and there is a comprehensive orientation programme.

Be a highly motivated nurse, who displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work
Provide quality care and services to our patients, friends and whanau in collaboration with the MDT
Understand risk assessment and have the ability to think on your feet when identifying and managing risk
Have a positive solution focused approach with the ability to use your initiative
Have knowledge of rehabilitation and recovery models and social inclusion
Provide nursing care in accordance with the NCNZ scope of practice (Registered Nurse) and the CCDHB Professional Development and Recognition Plan
Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse
Mental health nursing scope of practice
Hold a current practicing certificate
New Zealand Driver License desirable but not essential
Having post registration education/learning experiences in mental health nursing (advantageous)
