About the Role
The Senior Engineer - DaaS is responsible for the ongoing technical operation of the Datacom Cloud platform and associated services. They will work collaboratively with geographically dispersed teams of DaaS Engineers and Architects to proactively manage the Datacom Cloud DaaS platform.
The Senior Engineer - DaaS is a hands-on professional technical engineer with responsibilities across a broad range of technologies. They maintain a deep knowledge of the technologies deployed as well as up to date professional certifications to ensure the delivery of an exceptional service. They are passionate about technology with an innovative approach to solving complex problems. They are customer service focused and are constantly seeking ways to optimise and automate processes to improve quality and reduce cost.
What you?ll bring
A deep understanding of Desktop as a Service Infrastructure (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops) and associated Management Platform. VMware Horizon (VDI) is not essential but desirable.
Current Wintel experience supporting Windows 10, Server 2012 and Server 2016 and solid understanding of standard Windows features and roles as used in enterprise environments (AD/DNS/DHCP/File systems/Group Policy)
Experience in application/OS configuration and deployments using Microsoft SCCM
Desire to support a Cloud System stacks comprising of Automation/Orchestration, Hypervisors, Servers, Backups, Storage, Network &
Application layers.
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell.
Exposure to DR methodologies, planning and execution.
Interest in Automation and Orchestration.
Understanding of DevOps methodologies.
Working knowledge of ITIL processes, change management and project management.
Responsibilities
Ongoing management and delivery of the various Datacom Cloud DaaS Platforms to agreed OLAs and SLAs including:
Incident/Request management
Change management
Capacity management
Participation in 24x7 on-call support roster
An ability to accurately track and log time into timesheets
Ability to plan and schedule workloads in accordance with Datacom policies
Ability to work within a team environment to plan, co-ordinate and implement regular maintenance activities.
An ability to Identify, report and escalate to management, any risks, and issues within the Datacom Cloud DaaS environments.
Maintaining up to date knowledge of vendor and industry best practices in related technology fields.
