Job Requisition 20124The Document Examination Section is part of the National Criminal Investigations Group, and is based at Wellington Central Police Station. We support Police investigations nationwide by providing a wide range of expert forensic evidence, including the examination and identification of handwriting and signatures, office equipment, counterfeits, printing processes, alterations, erasures, papers, inks and writing instruments.We currently have a vacancy for a qualified Senior Document Examiner. This is a rewarding and challenging position that will carry out forensic document examinations, mentor staff in training and assist with daily administrative operations to support the provision of a professional and effective forensic document examination service.Skills - you will be able to:
Concentrate on detailed tasks for long periods of time
Keep accurate and detailed records
Consolidate and analyse evidence to identify what has happened and factors surrounding the situation
Present complex issues (written or verbal) clearly to a range of audiences
Adapt communication style or approach to the individual and situation
Facilitate cooperation and partnerships
Prepare and present (written or verbal) information in a clear and concise way
Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines
Maintain quality of work under strict timeframesExperience - you will have:
A recognised qualification in document examination with at least seven years of full time work experience in this field
Demonstrated experience examining and reporting on large and/or complex document examination cases
Demonstrated experience presenting evidence as an expert witness in New Zealand courts
