This is your opportunity to take on a Senior Solicitor role and work in a supportive and collaborative team on a wide variety of interesting transactions relating to administrative law, employment law, contract and commercial law, intellectual property law and IT law, as well as procurement enquires and queries relating to the day to day aspects of property portfolios managed by LINZ and the Commissioner of Crown Lands. to day to day aspects of property portfolios managed by LINZ and the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
As part of the in-house Legal Services team at LINZ you will capitalise on your strong relationship development skills to provide legal advice that complies with all relevant statutory requirements to the Minister, Chief Executive and the Executive Leadership team and all LINZ staff on legal issues and risks affecting the business. While not a necessity, it would also be beneficial if you could demonstrate a strong knowledge of procurement and the drafting and administering of contracts, as well as a good understanding of New Zealand government legislative and policy processes and how they apply to the public sector.
Our team is close knit, highly engaged and social, but each of our team members works independently, meaning you have a reasonable level of autonomy to structure your days and your approach to your work, in the way that suits you best. You\ 'll have a pragmatic and common-sense approach to your work and that attitude will reflect in how you tailor the advice you provide to the business. You\ 'll create strong networks right across the business and a deep understanding of the machinery of government and what that means in a LINZ context.
Given that this a senior level role, we\ 'd ideally like you to take an interest in the work of our Junior Solicitors and provide thoughtful mentorship, coaching and peer support as they continue to develop their skill sets.
To be successful in this role you will need:
To have a legal qualification with a current practising certificate or ability to obtain one
Sound knowledge of areas of law relevant to LINZ\ 's various business activities such as administrative law, employment law, contract and commercial law, intellectual property law and IT law, property transactions and public administration
Ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience in performing a range of tasks under completing demands and meeting the end result within quality parameters and time frames
This role is available as either a 12-month fixed term agreement or a 12-month secondment to cover a period of parental leave.
Although this role is available on a full-time basis, we are also able to accommodate flexible and part-time working requests.
