The Team Manager Establishment for Whanganui is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2 (VTS2) to join the team and be based at Silver Fern Farms - Hawera (ME9).

Silver Fern Farms Hawera is a large bovine processing and boning operation. The premises operate a day shift and a night shift five nights a week. The current MPI VS team on site consists of two veterinarians, a VTS1 and VTS2. The VTS2 predominantly covers the night shift with the VTS1 covering the day shift. The VTS2 may also be required to relieve at other premises within reasonable travel distance when the roster at ME9 does not utilise all the veterinarians.
This is an entry level position and would be well suited to a veterinarian that is new to the export meat industry. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate decision making and relationship building skills together with an ability to collaborate with others. You will need to be able to create an environment that enables the operator to optimise their ownership of compliance as MPI Verifications Services (VS) implements it\ 's key initiative;
Triple O (Optimising Operator Ownership).
You will also work together with the wider Wanganui team, and positively contribute to the overall team function.

The role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety, animal welfare verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.

A Qualified and registered Veterinarian
Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with HACCP, Quality Assurance systems, Risk Management Systems
Verbal and written skills, verbal and analytical reasoning skills
Integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability and openness
Persuading and influencing, team work, planning and organising
Computer literacy ? can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.G. word-processing, excel, internet, email, database, secure sites, electronic certification, residues etc
An understanding of basic food technology
