Enable a Step Change for M?ori-led Research, Science and Innovation
The Director will drive the work programme to ensure MBIE delivers on its responsibilities under te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi in the research, science and innovation system by:
Providing thought leadership on key cross-sector policy and operational issues and opportunities for M?ori.
Leading MBIE\ 's relationship with its new K?hui M?ori for the research, science, and innovation system.
Leading the implementation of MBIE\ 's Expanding the Impact of Vision M?tauranga initiative.
Leading the response to the recommendations from Te R?p? Whakamanai te Tiriti o Waitangi, such as Ko Aotearoa T?ne.
We\ 're looking for a highly credible leader who has:
Expert understanding of Crown responsibilities under te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi, and the aspirations and needs of M?ori
Excellent understanding of Crown aspirations for building strategic alliances with M?ori
In depth knowledge and understanding of te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga
Well connected, credible and influential within te ao M?ori and Government
Understands the strategic context, current policy agenda and priorities, and is able to see policy issues in the wider context and apply foresight and judgement
Is a smart operator, working effectively to influence within a large organisation with stewardship responsibilities for the research, science and innovation system.
Experience of working within M?ori communities, iwi, hap? and key M?ori organisations
Experience working in a policy and service delivery agency.
Some travel will be required.
