The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Dual Trade Maintenance Engineer ? Electrical/Mechanical to join the amazing team at our Glenfield site in Auckland NZ. The role reports to the Chief Engineer on site.
This is a permanent, full time role and working days/hours are Sunday to Thursday inc, 9pm to 6am Candidates must be available to work at night.
Role Purpose:
Install, maintain and fault find all equipment on site at the Glenfield plant (food manufacturing environment), ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
Key Accountabilities:
Actively promote work in a safe way ensuring your own safety as well as the safety of others.
Carry out preventive maintenance on allocated machines.
Fault find and repair defective machines - identify correct symptoms and trace to root cause, including, where a detailed specification is not provided and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect.
Application of process flow fundamentals.
Service orientation - rapid response to customer needs.
Train and mentor other employees.
People and Relationships:
Liaise with all stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Work closely with Manufacturing to support plant uptime efficiencies
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and two-way communication with co-workers and other personnel of the company including stakeholders and cross functional business units.
Policies and Procedures:
Adhere to all Company and local Policies and Procedures and SOPs including Food Safety and Product Quality, including any amendments, or new policies and procedures that may be implemented.
Ensure H&
S standards and procedures are maintained at all times.
Promote and practice safe work methods.
Follow quality system procedures and safety practices.
Role model appropriate behaviour to all staff.
Reports injuries immediately and completes Incident Reports immediately.
Suggest improvements and preventive actions for the Company.
Critical Competencies:
Trade Certificate:
Fitting and Machining or other relevant Mechanical Qualifications.
Limited Electrical Qualification.
Food or pharmaceutical manufacturing work experience in a fast paced environment, highly desirable.
Effective Communication eg keeping management and relevant parties informed whilst seeking advice and assistance when required.
Customer service (internal and external) focused.
Computer Skills:
for Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Microsoft Office requirements at a basic level e.G. look up details of spare parts and history of machines;
update and close off jobs;
sending/receiving emails;
reviewing and completing information in Word and Excel.
High level of written communication skills eg report writing for work order reports.
Excellent verbal communication skills eg ability to explain complex issues to others appropriately.
Listening skills eg ability to actively listen to understand issues and resolve appropriately.
Competent Fault finding skills on mechanical/electrical/pneumatic.
Competent welder using TIG/MIG/Stick/Oxy Acetylene.
Competent using lathe, mill and drill machines.
Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and sketch parts.
Lubrication fundamentals - lubrication effects on equipment and applications, e.G. lubricants, lubricant selection, lubrication systems and bearing effects.
Carry out work using all safety procedures including, but not limited to:
Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
Hot work
Confined spaces
Work at heights
Numeracy skills appropriate to role.
Appropriate level of physical fitness to meet the requirements of the role eg ability to lift up 15 kilograms in a safe manner.
The ability to work well with others and demonstrate they are a team worker at all times.
Display levels of trust and productivity that allow them to work unsupervised, when required.
